Hey guys,
Hope you're doing well. So for the past few days I've compared LinkedIn and Twitter from a student's perspective and here are my observations. Both are great platforms but you should know when to use what. This is how I do it.
When to use LinkedIn?
To find leads:. There a chrome extension called SalesQL which can be used on LinkedIn to find email IDs of executives and potential clients or people you want to reach out to.
Post content and build a personal brand: Let's be honest here, if you're slightly popular, you gain credibility and it helps you gain authority. LinkedIn has organic reach and it's super easy to become popular there. Just start posting.
Direct DMs: You can reach almost any executive, student or mentor on LinkedIn DMs. They have high readability.
When to use Twitter?
I don't like the content most people post on LinkedIn and therefore Twitter is my source of news and insightful reads. Almost all influencers, founders, CEOs and "cool" people are on Twitter. You can watch and learn from the best in the industry.
Here are some of my favorite Twitter accounts:
Naval (angel investor and founder of Angellist): https://twitter.com/naval
Kunal Shah (founder CRED and freecharge): https://twitter.com/kunalb11
Sridhar Vembu (founder Zoho): https://twitter.com/svembu
Palak Zatakia (amazing content creator): https://twitter.com/palakzat
You get to learn SO much from these people!
Spot trends: It's a great place to stay relevant in the industry, to see who is hiring or which skills are demand and not get left out in the capitalism race!
That's it for this week. Do let me know how you use these platforms.
Thanks Harish, good suggestion.
